Location: Nottingham
Pay Rate: £19.00 per hour

Major Recruitment are currently recruiting for an experienced Miller to join our clients growing engineering and manufacturing team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled CNC Miller or Manual Miller with experience within precision engineering and manufacturing environments. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting, operating and programming milling machines to produce high-quality precision components to customer specifications and engineering drawings.

We are looking for individuals who take pride in quality, accuracy and workmanship, with a strong understanding of machining processes and engineering standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set, operate and programme conventional and/or CNC milling machines

  • Manufacture precision engineered components to required tolerances

  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and work instructions

  • Select appropriate tooling, fixtures and machine settings

  • Carry out machine adjustments and tool changes

  • Inspect components using measuring equipment including:

    • Verniers

    • Micrometers

    • Height gauges

    • Thread gauges

    • Shadowgraphs where applicable

  • Complete production and quality documentation accurately

  • Monitor machine performance and identify production or quality issues

  • Report tooling, material or machine faults promptly

  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping and health & safety

  • Support continuous improvement and lean manufacturing activities

  • Work closely with production, engineering and quality teams

Skills & Experience Required

Essential

  • Previous experience as a Miller, CNC Miller or Milling Machinist within manufacturing or engineering

  • Experience setting and operating milling machines

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings

  • Experience using precision measuring equipment

  • Strong understanding of tolerances and quality standards

  • Good communication and team-working skills

  • Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively

  • Good understanding of health & safety within manufacturing
